January 2010 Update
As the New Year kicks off, so does the planning for In-SHUCK-ch Days 2010! A new coordinator, Katherine Drasic, has taken over Curtis Bedwell’s responsibilities. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact her at days@inshuckch.com or 604-820-6847.

At the moment, grant applications are being finished, research for new funding and sponsorship is being conducted, and organizing for the day is underway. Entertainment acts, catering, and a list of activities is being confirmed. Responses for grant applications should be coming in shortly, as well. If you have any suggestions or would like to be involved in In-SHUCK-ch Days, contact Katherine. We’ll keep you posted in the upcoming months! Get excited—In-SHUCK-ch Days 2010 is going to be fantastic!

October 2009 Update
Fundraising for In-SHUCK-ch Days 2010 is already underway. With that said, many of the details are still being worked out. We are in the process of drafting this year’s budget, applying for government grants, figuring out sponsorship benefits and preparing the funding solicitation package – to be finished by mid-November – so we can begin finding sponsors and donors early in the New Year. At the General Assembly this upcoming weekend we hope to receive enough community feedback to make a decision on where the festival will be held. Senior management proposed the idea that we have a rotating host and location each year, and while it is not concrete, we hope to see where the community stands.

There are still many In-Days 2009 t-shirts available. We have discounted them to $8.00, and updated the inventory, so if you’d like to purchase a couple, call the office or email to inquire on available sizes. They will also be available for sale at the General Assembly.

For your consideration, we have posted a list of frequently asked questions (F.A.Q) about In-SHUCK-ch Days to clarify some concerns that were brought forward after In-SHUCK-ch Days 2009. Please take the time to read through them as they address important issues such as the discontinuation of the traditional naming ceremony.

We are in need of suggestions for musical acts to perform at In-SHUCK-ch Days! If you know anyone who might be interested, or have a particular act you’d like to see, email Curtis at research@inshuckch.com. If there is any other entertainment act you’d like to suggest, don’t hesitate to email us your ideas. We are still quite some time away from the festival, but we will keep you posted along the way.

Looking forward,

Curtis Bedwell

August 2009 Update
As the month of August has come there are only a few things assured. Summer is ending, corn is growing tall and In-SHUCK-ch Days is right around the corner. It has been a pleasure to follow this festival from beginning to end and all of us at the In-SHUCK-ch Days Team, thank everyone for their support large or small.

The tentative schedule can be viewed on a link from this website and a full list of workshops can be reviewed at your leisure. For those of you who have not made accommodations for the festival we are unfortunately unable to arrange any for you other then at Tsek Campsite which we request you contact us (days@inshuckch.com) to reserve a spot. Other possibilities are at the Hitching Post and Pemberton Valley Lodge. Unfortunately you will have to make these arrangements yourself as we cannot spare the time to facilitate this process.

For those of you who are returning participants to the In-SHUCK-ch Days festival, the major changes this year will be the added number of make and take workshops. These workshops will allow participants to make a traditional cedar or buck skinned item and take it home as something to remember the festival by.

We will be selling T-shirts again this year in both white and black. They will be sold at $15 each and we also have a limited number of In-SHUCK-ch Travel mugs that we will be selling for $15 each. We will be up at Skatin setting up for the festival starting August 19th. We encourage In-SHUCK-ch members to come volunteer their time to help set up the event and help out. The festival will officially begin August 22nd at 10 am. We would like to thank all of our kind donors and sponsors for helping us pull off this year’s festival despite economic difficulties. Without all your kind contributions we would not have been able to hold this year’s In-SHUCK-ch Days.

We will have career tables from UFV, BCIT, Timberline, Wallbridge, BC forestry professionals and the Stl’atl’imx Tribal police. We are very excited to have them all come to participate in this year’s festival.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week at HLS for the festival. Please bring your drums if you have them as there will be singing and dancing in the opening and closing ceremonies.
