Traditional Territory Indian Reserves Private & Leased Lands |
Indian ReservesThere are 20 Indian Reserves within the traditional territory as defined by the Statement of Intent. These are distributed along the Lower Lillooet River between Lillooet and Harrison Lakes. Of these reserves, two are not In-SHUCK-ch reserves, but are currently assigned to the Lil’wat Nation (Mt. Currie IR #5 and IR #9, or Challetkohum). Samahquam ownership of these reserves are the subject of ongoing discussions with the Lil’wat Nation. Of the remaining, five are currently inhabited. For the locations of all communities and reserves please see the map entitled In-SHUCK-ch resident communities. Since Xax’stsa (Douglas First Nation) is no longer part of the In-SHUCK-ch Nation treaty negotiations, In-SHUCK-ch Nation reserves include the Samahquam Nation and Skatin First Nations reserves. |
